Football players and coaches at Esperanza High School will receive “grade A” treatment this week when they move their equipment into new lockers.
The 112 NFL-style lockers were completed on Monday and installed by the football team’s booster club for about $13,000.
“They are absolutely beautiful, and are not just lockers but a piece of furniture,” said Jim Burrell, president of the booster club. “They are comparable to ones in any Division I-A college programs.”
The lockers are painted cardinal and gold--the school colors--and feature a maple face frame and a secured area at the top for valuables. Each locker also has a mounted tag with the player’s name and number.
The booster club is asking members of the community to sponsor a locker for $100 to help offset the cost.
