Alan Gutierrez gained 112 yards in 14 carries and scored two touchdowns to help Burbank High end a nine-game losing streak with a 26-12 victory over Daniel Murphy at Rancho Cienega Park in Los Angeles.
The 6-1, 215-pound senior had only 24 yards in the first half. However, he took his first carry of the third quarter 21 yards for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 12-6 lead.
Gutierrez added a two-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion run.
The victory was Burbank’s first under Coach Frank Childress, and marked its first victory since shutting out Daniel Murphy, 21-0, to open the 1998 season.
