The Crystal Cathedral is hosting what it calls the country’s first conference for Christian and Muslim understanding. The event will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
“The purpose of the conference is to find a common ground,” said Bill Baker, founder of Christians and Muslims for Peace, a nonprofit organization that is organizing the event. “We have so much in common between us, but the masses don’t know it. We have no excuse not to promote peace and understanding.”
Leaders from both faiths are expected to speak, including Muzammil H. Siddiqi, president of the Islamic Society of North America and director and Imam of the Islamic Society of Orange County, and Crystal Cathedral pastor Robert H. Schuller.
The event costs $45, including lunch and dinner on Saturday, and will be at the cathedral, 13280 Chapman Ave. Reservations and information: (714) 544-5679.
