Santa Monica 29, Glendale 28--Mike Frost’s two-point conversion pass sailed out of the end zone with 2:03 to play and the Vaqueros were unable to complete a comeback from a 15-0 deficit in the third quarter in a Western State Conference interdivision game at Santa Monica.
After Altriki Brown’s five-yard touchdown run with 2:59 to play put Santa Monica (1-1) ahead, Glendale (1-1) moved 68 yards on three plays in 50 seconds, culminating with Frost’s 38-yard touchdown pass to Rob Fowler.
Frost completed 31 of 57 passes for 406 yards and four second-half touchdowns and was intercepted once.
Frost began the comeback by throwing 30- and 11-yard touchdown passes to Chad Heydorff, sandwiched around Brown’s 40-yard touchdown run.
The Vaqueros tied the score, 22-22, when Frost threw a three-yard touchdown pass to Paul Smith and ran for the two-point conversion with 5:36 to play.
