An Ojai bank was robbed Friday afternoon by a man who ordered all employees and customers to face the wall while he stole money from tellers, a sheriff’s official said.
The dark-haired man entered Washington Mutual Bank on Maricopa Highway about 3:40 p.m. with a gun visible in his waistband, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Bill Montijo.
“He didn’t jump on the counters and act violently, but he wasn’t a note-passer either,” Montijo said. “I would say he was calm and ordered people what to do.”
There were no shots fired and none of the 11 people inside was injured, Montijo said.
The man is described as 25 to 30 years old, 160 pounds and 5 feet, 6 inches tall.
