The Committee to Recall Mayor John Gullixson would have to collect 1,150 signatures today to get the 6,550 needed by 5 p.m. to call a special election to vote him out of office.
As of Monday, the group had collected 5,400 signatures. The deadline to submit petitions for counting is at the end of the business day today.
Less than three weeks ago, the committee mailed out 15,400 recall petitions to registered voters in Yorba Linda. The mass mailing was a final effort to get the required number of signatures.
