Corrosion Found in Gas Blast Pipe

Investigators have found corrosion and thinning walls on a section of the natural gas pipeline that exploded in a weekend fireball, killing 11 people on a family camping trip, said officials in El Paso. But a spokesman for the National Transportation Safety Board cautioned that it is too early to say what caused Saturday’s blast in a remote corner of southeast New Mexico. The sole survivor, 25-year-old Amanda Smith, remained in critical condition in a hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
