Because they were the only candidates for the two seats, Mayor Anna Piercy and Councilman Tim Keenan were appointed by the City Council to second terms last week, canceling the city’s November general election.
Cypress will be the only city in Orange County to not hold an election in November. This year’s election is the first to be canceled in the city’s 44-year history.
