The City Council will decide tonight whether to spend $75,000 to increase voter turnout in the upcoming March and November elections.
Irvine has invited Laguna Hills to join its Vote 2000 Program to address declining voter participation, said City Manager Bruce Channing.
“It’s an aggressive attempt to identify registered voters and get the vote out on election day,” Channing said. “But it doesn’t come cheap.”
The cost for the March election campaign is about $45,000, and the November general election will cost about $30,000.
