Colonial Williamsburg Changes Ticket System

Colonial Williamsburg, the historic park in Virginia that about 1 million people visit each year, has changed its ticketing system for the first time in 20 years. Starting Jan. 1, it began offering two types of tickets: one-day general admission ($30 adults, $18 ages 6 to 17, free under 6) and an annual pass ($65 adults, $22.50 children). The one-day tickets can be extended for up to seven days by paying $5 more each day. Both types of tickets provide access to all park sites.
Previously, there were three types of tickets: Patriot’s Pass ($35 adults, good all year for all park sites), Colonist’s Pass ($31 adults, good for two days, excluding the Carter’s Grove plantation and Bassett Hall, a home of the Rockefellers) and Basic Pass ($27 adults, good for one day, excluding Carter’s Grove, Bassett Hall and the Governor’s Palace). The new annual pass, although more expensive, adds various discounts and access to special programs. Tel. (757) 229-1000.
