San Francisco 86, Loyola Marymount 76--Center Kenyon Jones finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds for visiting San Francisco as the Dons defeated the the struggling Lions in a West Coast Conference game at Gersten Pavilion.
The win brought a sigh of relief from Coach Philip Mathews of the Dons (14-5, 2-4), whose team has had its difficulties since winning 12 of its first 13 games.
The same can’t be said for the Lions (2-17, 0-6), who dropped their sixth in a row.
The Lions made it respectable behind the outside shooting of freshman guard Stanley Thorne, who made five three-point baskets and finished with 20 points.
