One man was arrested and a second is being sought in the theft Tuesday of a loaded handgun and clothes from two homes in the upscale Ondulando neighborhood, authorities said.
Police said Adam Dungca, 25, of Oxnard knocked on the front door of a home on Sunnycrest Avenue about 11 a.m. and tried talking his way inside before going to the backyard and changing into some clothes he found there.
After the homeowner called police, Dungca ran to the 1100 block of Via Cielito, where he was arrested on suspicion of prowling, police said.
About the same time, his accomplice broke into another occupied home in the 600 block of Via Cielito and stole a loaded gun from a bedroom, police said.
“The homeowner was in the back of the house and she heard a noise and saw him in her bedroom,” said Ventura Police Sgt. Doug Auldridge. “As soon as she saw him he ran out of the house.”
The burglar was described as a black man in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 with a thin build, black hair, brown eyes and short hair. He was wearing a long-sleeve blue shirt, khaki pants and possibly a tie.
About a dozen officers and a helicopter were involved in the search.
