Cal Lutheran University is displaying the work of freelance photographer Brian Stethem in an exhibit titled “Havana, Cuba . . . and Other Journeys” through March 28.
Stethem, who graduated from CLU in 1984, shot the black-and-white photos of gritty Havana life during several recent trips to the region.
His exhibit also shows images from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Italy, Greece, Turkey and China.
The photos portray “kind of special moments where the light is just right and there’s kind of an interplay between . . . people,” said Stethem.
This will be Stethem’s second CLU show. The part-time CLU design and photography instructor has exhibited throughout Ventura County and Los Angeles for the last decade.
His latest showing is displayed at the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture in the Soiland Humanities Center on the CLU campus, 60 West Olsen Road.
