Titans Beat California on Lamoure’s Homer

Louie Lamoure hit a home run in the top of the 11th inning to help Cal State Fullerton, ranked third in the nation, defeat California, 4-3, in a nonconference baseball game Sunday in Berkeley.
Sean Martin gave up one hit and struck out four in the final three innings to earn the victory for the Titans (9-7), who avoided a three-game sweep.
Fullerton took a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth on Chris Stringfellow’s run-scoring single, but California (9-13) tied it when Clint Hoover led off the bottom of the ninth with a home run off Titan reliever Ronnie Corona.
Fullerton starter Jon Smith gave up six hits, two walks and one earned run and struck out seven in seven innings.
In Big West Conference softball:
Cal State Fullerton 2, Sacramento State 0--Yasmin Mossadeghi had two hits and an RBI and Christy Robitaille (6-2) pitched a one-hitter with five strikeouts for host and 11th-ranked Fullerton (22-2, 3-0).
In nonconference men’s tennis:
UC Irvine 6, Wisconsin 1--Oliver Schweizer won at No. 1 singles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, then teamed with David Matthew to win in doubles, 8-6, for host Irvine (8-4).
