San Clemente’s Ward Advances in Surf Event

Chris Ward of San Clemente posted the highest score Sunday on the final day of men’s qualifying at the Panasonic ShockWave Tour event at Churches.
Ward scored 23.50 points, eliminating Saturday’s highest scorer, Jeremy Somerville of Solana Beach.
BASKETBALL
Century’s Adriana Mendez has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Cal State Dominguez Hills, Century Athletic Director Jeff Watts said Sunday.
Mendez was the Empire League most valuable player last season, averaging 4.3 assists per game.
