Seminary President Resigns in Sex Case

SAN ANSELMO, Calif. — The president of the San Francisco Theological Seminary has resigned, three days before a verdict was expected in a Presbyterian church trial alleging sexual abuse.
The Rev. Donald McCullough said Tuesday in a letter to seminary trustees that he was stepping down because of “inappropriate conduct.”
The Rev. Betsy Massie, the clerk for the San Francisco Presbytery, said McCullough faces two charges of “misuse of his office and position” for allegedly committing “sexual abuse.”
McCullough and the seminary administration would not elaborate on the charges, but a church source told the San Francisco Chronicle that the trial stems from McCullough’s involvement with two female staff members from Solana Beach Presbyterian Church in San Diego, where he served from 1980 to 1994.
