LOS ANGELES — A 40-year-old computer science teacher was arrested at Locke High School Thursday on suspicion of sexually molesting three girls after class.
The students filed separate reports this week, alleging that Ira Wright of Inglewood molested them, said Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee.
The girls said Wright tried to use some sort of object to penetrate them, according to Det. Frank Carrillo of the LAPD’s Sexually Exploited Childrens Unit.
The girls alleged that the encounters occurred after the other students had gone home for the day. Carrillo said Wright was arrested by Southeast Division detectives, who turned the case over to him.
Wright, who was a year-to-year employee at the high school and taught in adult school as well, was taken into custody about 10 a.m. in the school parking lot as some students watched.
The suspect, who had worked for the district since 1993, was taken off the payroll immediately upon his arrest, said Ed Pardo of the Los Angeles Unified School District. He was booked at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility and held on $50,000 bail, Lee said.
