College of Desert Wins Tennis Title

The College of the Desert won its third consecutive state title, defeating Foothill, 6-0, in the final of the community college men’s dual team tennis championships Thursday at the Balboa Bay Club in Newport Beach.
College of the Desert finished the season 22-0.
In the women’s final, Fresno defeated Santa Barbara, 5-1. Fresno finished 20-0.
The individual competition begins today at 8:45 a.m. at the Balboa Bay Club. In first-round singles play, David DiMartino of Saddleback faces Lance Johnson of Sierra. In doubles, DiMartino and Brock Berry meet Nicholas Lalama and Todor Mantchev of Canada College. Arif Hasan and Jon Lippert of Saddleback play Modesto’s Victor Camargo and Danny Gomes.
In women’s singles, Karen Amos of Saddleback plays Fresno’s Suzi Riley.
