The annual Convention of the Indian Medical Assn. of Southern California will be held this weekend.
The association is one of the state’s largest ethnic organizations of its kind with about 600 member physicians, who have partly trained in East India. The organization provides free health fairs, clinics and continuing medical education classes throughout the county. The organization is the largest chapter of the American Assn. of Physicians of Indian Origin, a national group of more than 10,000 doctors.
Former Foreign Minister Inder Kumar Gujral and Dr. Marie Kuffner, president of the California Medical Assn., are expected to attend the Saturday dinner event. About 500 attendees are anticipated. The event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Crowne Plaza hotel, 12021 Harbor Blvd.
