More Early Kickoffs in Sydney

After two days of soccer competition, the Sydney Summer Olympics will officially begin midnight Friday Pacific Daylight Time--which is 6 p.m. Saturday in Sydney--with the opening ceremony. Australia is 18 hours ahead of Pacific time, meaning it is midday in Sydney when The Times goes to press. On a daily basis once the Games begin in full, The Times will be reporting many events on a same-day basis, hours before they are shown on television by NBC and its cable affiliates.
