South Korean Trio Sets World Record

Three South Korean archers combined to set a world record in the opening round of the Olympic competition Saturday, breaking the mark of another South Korean team.
The team of Kim Nam-soon, Yun Mi-jin and Kim Soo-nyung scored 1,994 points to break the mark of 1,984 set at the Atlanta Games by Kim Jo-sun, Kim Kyung-wook and Yoon Hye-young. It was the third consecutive Olympics that a South Korean team broke the world record in the ranking round.
The South Korean team placed first, third and fourth in the individual rankings, with Kim Soo-nyung having the top score of 671 out of a possible 720.
Italian Natalia Valeeva was second with 667, ahead of the other two South Koreans.
The ranking in the preliminary round determine which archers face each other in the eliminations.
