Providence’s Mayor Pleads Not Guilty

Providence Mayor Vincent “Buddy” Cianci pleaded not guilty to an array of federal charges of racketeering, bribery, extortion and other corruption charges.

Cianci was arraigned along with his chief of staff, two other former aides and a member of the Providence Towing Assn.

If convicted on all counts, Cianci faces up to $2.5 million in fines and more than 100 years in prison.
