Titans Double Up With Two Shutouts

Jodie Cox and Christy Robitaille pitched shutouts as visiting Cal State Fullerton swept Long Beach State, 3-0 and 2-0, in a Big West Conference doubleheader Sunday.
Cox (14-4) allowed three hits and struck out seven in the first game, and Robitaille (6-0) gave up five hits in the second game. Cal State Fullerton improved to 35-10 overall, 8-0 in the Big West. Long Beach State is 17-21, 6-2.
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
UC Irvine 4, UC Santa Barbara 3--Freshman Antonella Castro’s three-set win over Vanessa Everly at No. 6 singles clinched the victory for Irvine (6-15, 4-1). The Anteaters also got singles wins from Jonni Seymour and Amy Tranckino.
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women’s water polo:
USC 16, UC Irvine 3--Aniko Pelle had eight goals for the Trojans (18-3, 8-2), who outscored the Anteaters, 9-1, in the second half. Nerissa Reidenbaugh, Erica Horman and Brianna Foulds each scored for UC Irvine (1-17, 1-7).
