The hankies were out on both sides of the footlights at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for “Thanks for the Memories,” Paul Salamunovich’s official farewell concert as music director of the Los Angeles Master Chorale Friday. But this certainly wasn’t the maestro’s swan song. Mark Foster, president of the chorale board, announced that Salamunovich will become director emeritus of the chorale. “That means in a couple of years they’ve got to invite me back for a concert,” said Salamunovich.
Following the concert, which drew a standing ovation and multiple curtain calls, the entire Salamunovich clan joined more than 500 guests for dancing and dinner.
