While crowds of people across the country scrambled to buy Powerball lottery tickets, the tiny town of Greenwich, Conn., happily got out of the game.
Sales were suspended for the day after town officials argued that the town was being overrun by out-of-staters wanting a shot at today’s $280-million jackpot.
“It’s really unfair,” said Gerardo Fernandez, from New York City. “I’ve been doing it for years, and all of a sudden, why is it, because Greenwich is like, for rich people?”
