Murder-Suicide Attempt Suspected

A Santa Ana woman was shot to death and a man critically injured Friday in what police described as a murder and attempted suicide.
A neighbor found the two bodies inside a home in the 2300 block of West Wilshire Avenue and summoned police shortly before 3 p.m., said Santa Ana police spokesman Mario Corona.
The woman, Ana E. De La Cruz, 23, was pronounced dead inside her home.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was in extremely critical condition Friday night, Corona said.
Police found a handgun near the male victim, but they won’t be able to confirm that he fired the shots until they finish ballistics tests, Corona said.
The couple had a “dating relationship,” and did not live together, Corona said.
