Starbucks will open a 1,500-square-foot store in San Fernando that will feature the company’s first drive-thru coffee facility in the Valley.
The City Council, which approved the deal Tuesday, began negotiating several months ago with the giant coffee chain, offering it a $125,000 assistance package.
The company will spend $400,000 to refurbish and expand an old hamburger stand in the Mission Plaza on Truman Avenue, said Sarah Magana Withers, San Fernando’s economic development manager.
“We’re very excited,” Magana Withers said. “This is a big deal for San Fernando.”
