A woman cleaning up her Altadena home Saturday a day after it was ransacked by burglars found the badly beaten body of her 32-year-old son inside the disheveled abode.
Sheriff’s deputies said the killing of Christopher Hollis, 32, was related to the burglary. They refused to speculate about whether deputies had missed the body when they went to the house Friday morning to investigate the burglary.
Sheriff’s Lt. Katie Campbell of the Altadena station said the body was discovered beneath a “pile of clothing” in the hallway.
The victim’s mother had reported the burglary at her home in 2600 block of Glen Avenue Friday morning, said Deputy Steve Jauch.
Campbell said three sheriff’s units from Altadena station responded to the burglary call and found the woman inside the home. “They entered the home and looked around and did not find anything,” she said. “The home was a little disheveled. It was kind of a mess.”
The mother left the home and spent the night at another location, deputies said. When she returned Sunday morning to clean up, she discovered her son’s body about 9:40 a.m.
Campbell said Hollis occasionally lived with his mother, whose name was not released.
