High Schools Will Buy 1,117 Computers

High schools in the Capistrano Unified School District will be able to nearly double the number of computers available to students this year, thanks to almost $1.7 million from a state grant.
The grant, announced last week, will allow the district to buy 1,117 computers for its five high schools, which now have about 1,400 computers.
The grant will lower the ratio of students to computers to less than 5 to 1.
The district’s four comprehensive high schools will split most of the money. Serra High School, a continuation school in San Juan Capistrano, will receive $1,500 from the grant.
District officials said the computers should be installed within six months.
