Bicyclist, 19, Dies in Gang Shooting

A 19-year-old Norwalk man was shot to death Friday night while riding his bike in a neighborhood near Norwalk High School, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators say Rudy Padilla, who was riding in a residential area near Jersey Avenue and Belcher Street about 8 p.m., was shot several times by someone in a dark Honda.

Padilla died at a local hospital.

Sheriff’s deputies believe the shooting was gang-related, partly because someone inside the Honda was heard yelling a gang slogan before the shooting, said Sgt. William Howell.
