David Klein; Taught at Michigan State and Wrote Several Books

David Klein, 82, educator and author of books on topics varying from recreational boating to estate planning, died May 19 at his home in Seattle of cancer.
A professor of social science and pediatrics and human development at Michigan State University for 18 years, Klein wrote more than a dozen books, beginning with “The Army Writer” during his service in World War II.
A native of New York, he earned degrees from its City College and Columbia University. Before teaching, he was executive vice president of Basic Books and publications director of the Assn. for the Aid of Crippled Children in New York City.
Klein also wrote a column for Seventeen magazine.
