More Things to Ban

Re “2 Lawmakers Seek to Ban Drivers’ Use of Hand-Held Cell Phones,” May 23: How can you hold a conversation and drive an automobile at the same time? Or sing along with the radio and bop your head to the music? Hold hands? Smoke? Console your child? All these things should be banned. I witnessed a man walking suddenly trip while talking on his cell phone. Why, he could have hurt himself or, worse yet, an innocent bystander. Perhaps we might extend the ban to pedestrians. With traffic signals getting longer seemingly every year, it’s quite possible to dial a number while at a stop, if one hasn’t stored the number to auto-dial. But that might be expecting too much from Americans.
