Sheriff’s homicide detectives are investigating two unrelated shooting deaths early Sunday.
A 19-year-old passenger in one car in Ladera Heights was shot by a passenger in another car, said Sheriff’s Deputy Faye Bugarin. The shooting occurred about 4 a.m. in the 5300 block of West Slauson Avenue, she said.
Bugarin said the gunfire erupted during a verbal exchange between the occupants of the two cars. The victim, whose name was not released, died at the scene.
Half an hour later, another unidentified man was fatally shot in the 4600 block of Imperial Highway in Hawthorne, Bugarin said. The man died at a hospital.
