RAMS’ TWO-WEEK VICTORY PARLAY: NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Ordinarily, this would be three hours of scorch marks and skid marks across the Meadowlands, New York Jet facemasks imbedded in the smoldering sod, the Rams by 35 and let’s see what’s up at that NASCAR race in Talladega.
But no league is more what-have-you-done-lately than the NFL, and lately, the Giants held the Rams to 15 points in St. Louis and KO’d Marshall Faulk and supposedly softened up the league’s best team for their neighbors today. As Jet cornerback/carnival barker Marcus Coleman put it: “They’re supposed to be ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’ and they’re coming to the media capital. I guess the circus is in town.”
With Trung Canidate, instead of the hobbled Faulk, in one of the three rings.
This development has the Jets thinking positive thoughts. Or they were until Coach Herman Edwards, ever the realist, pointed out that Kurt Warner’s personal stalker last weekend, defensive end Michael Strahan, plays for the Giants, not the Jets.
“He practices over there by that stadium,” Edwards said, referring to Giants Stadium, site of today’s game, “but we can’t rent him this week.”
The line: St. Louis by 7.
