The recent slump in travel, combined with the dot-com collapse, has hit San Francisco especially hard, resulting in lower room rates. Among the deals: The Argent Hotel, two blocks south of Union Square and rated four diamonds by AAA, offers a “Drive-In & Win” package. For $139, you get a room for the night, parking and a $20 card to buy gasoline. By comparison, published room rates begin at $425 per night, with parking an extra $32 per night, a spokeswoman said.
