KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Continental Airlines Inc. said they will operate joint flights and coordinate schedules.
Continental, domestic partner of KLM affiliate Northwest Airlines Corp., will sell seats on KLM’s European flights out of Amsterdam, which the U.S. carrier serves from Newark, N.J.
KLM will sell seats on Continental’s U.S. flights beyond Houston and Newark, which it serves.
KLM is also in talks with British Airways and other airlines on schedule coordination and combined flights as carriers look at ways to work together to help combat a drop in demand since last month’s terrorist attacks in the U.S. The agreement between KLM and Continental will begin Dec. 1 if approved by regulators, KLM said. It is valid for six months and can be extended, it said.
