2 Suspected of Trying to Sell Drugs in Sting

Two Los Angeles County men arrested after a shootout at a crowded Camarillo shopping center Monday were trying to sell 4 pounds of methamphetamine to undercover detectives in a sting operation, authorities said Tuesday.
Ventura County Narcotics Task Force agents fired several rounds at the suspects’ car when they attempted to flee a parking lot off Las Posas Road shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
No one was shot, but an officer suffered minor injuries when his unmarked truck was struck by the suspected drug dealers. The officer was treated at an area hospital and released.
Alejandro Rubio, 25, of Carson, was booked on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer and selling a controlled substance. Peter Camez, 20, of Wilmington, was jailed on suspicion of conspiracy and selling a controlled substance.
Bail was set at $500,000 each and both men remained in custody Tuesday night. Arraignments were scheduled for today.
