The field is set for the special election for the 2nd District seat on the Los Angeles City Council, with three candidates qualifying for the ballot, officials said Friday. The Dec. 11 contest will feature DreamWorks SKG executive Wendy Greuel, state Assemblyman Tony Cardenas (D-Sylmar) and Van Nuys businessman James “Jamie” Cordaro, who owns an electrical contracting firm.
The election is being held to fill a vacancy created when Councilman Joel Wachs resigned to head an arts foundation in New York.
