Astronaut, Doctor Join Science Museum Board

An Apollo 11 astronaut and a doctor specializing in stem cell research have been added to the board of directors of the Discovery Center for Science and Technology.
Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon, joins Dr. Marc Hedrick, founder and chief executive of StemSource Inc., a new biotech company in Thousand Oaks, on the board of the interactive science museum being developed on Thousand Oaks Boulevard.
Plans for the 110,000-square-foot center near the Civic Arts Plaza include space for exhibits, workshops, children’s programs, a learning and resource center for educators, an outdoor science park and an Imax theater.
