Record Amount Spent on City Hall Lobbying

A record $4.24 million was spent on lobbying to influence decisions at Los Angeles City Hall during the three-month period ending Sept. 30, according to the city Ethics Commission.
Eight firms seeking cable TV franchises spent $179,945 on legislative advocates, the most paid on an issue in the quarter, the commission said in a report.
The Ethics Commission said lobbyists also gave, delivered or were intermediaries for $181,000 in contributions to Mayor James K. Hahn’s anti-secession campaign, L.A. United.
