Ventura Girls Unbeaten in League Play

Jenni Dooley had 21 points to help Ventura secure an unbeaten Channel League season and the title with a 51-39 victory over host Santa Barbara on Wednesday night.
The Cougars (22-2, 8-0), ranked No. 9 by The Times, finish the season with a nonleague game at Marmonte League-champion Newbury Park on Saturday.
Brittney Crossland led Santa Barbara (21-4, 5-3) with 19 points.
Ayala 49, Diamond Bar 38--Brittany Sieger had 16 points for visiting Ayala (22-4, 9-0), which clinched its sixth consecutive league title. Ayala, ranked No. 14, has won 58 consecutive league games and has a 14-game winning streak.
In boys’ soccer:
Anaheim Servite 2, Santa Margarita 0--Matt Willis scored his 16th goal of the season and Ryan Day scored with a header on a Logan Nicks crossing pass for host Servite (14-8-5, 2-2-2), which knocked the ninth-ranked Eagles (19-4-4, 3-1-2) out of the Serra League title chase.
Santa Ana Mater Dei 4, Bellflower St. John Bosco 0--Donald Cadena and Randy Poggio had two goals each for the No. 8 Monarchs (18-2-5, 3-0-3), who clinched the Serra League title.
In girls’ water polo:
Los Altos 6, Covina Charter Oak 3--Denise Valderrama scored five goals for Los Altos (18-5, 8-2), which handed Charter Oak (17-8, 9-1) its first Miramonte League loss.
