From Times wire reports
Two Democrats asked the General Accounting Office to examine the new anti-terrorism law, saying they are concerned it may undermine civil liberties.
Sen. Russell D. Feingold (D-Wis.) and Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) urged Congress’ investigative arm to probe implementation of the USA Patriot Act, saying: “We are concerned about the potential threat to our civil liberties.”
Feingold was the only senator to oppose the bill; Conyers was one of 66 House members to vote against it.
