Council Moves Closer to ‘Living Wage’ Law

City Council members have moved closer to adopting a so-called “living wage” ordinance.
A majority of the council directed the city staff at a meeting Tuesday night to draw up a proposal guaranteeing $9 per hour plus health benefits, or $11.25 without, to city employees and employees of city contractors.
No deadline has been set to vote on such a plan, but at least two council members reportedly want to vote on it before July.
