Audible, Roxio to Join on CD-Burning Feature
- Share via
Audible Inc. is teaming with Roxio Inc. to let consumers make CDs with the spoken-word versions of newspapers, books and magazines they download from Audible.
Due by July, the CD-burning feature will help Audible customers move their downloaded files from computers to portable and car CD players, boom boxes and stereos.
Audible’s encrypted files currently can be played only on selected portable devices.
Audible’s offerings include best-selling novels and nonfiction books, which are sold individually, and subscriptions to National Public Radio broadcasts, Scientific American and Forbes magazines, and a limited amount of original programming.
Roxio, whose Easy CD Creator software is the leading CD-burning program, also will market and distribute Audible’s service through its retail channels and Web site.
