Tithing Reminds Givers of Their Blessings
- Share via
As a 58-year-old who has tithed since I was 4 years old, I found “Commitment to Tithing Is Now Rare” (May 31) interesting. My denomination, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, advocates tithing as a way of acknowledging that all we have comes from God. Just this morning at church I taught the young children, ages 4 through 9, about tithing as a means of saying “thank you” to God for the many blessings he bestows. Most Adventists give offerings in addition to their 10% tithe, while being financially solvent. It’s too bad that the percentage of religious people who tithe is declining.
