A former U.S. Forest Service employee who admitted starting Colorado’s largest wildfire should be ordered to pay $14.7 million in partial damages, federal prosecutors said.
In an appeal filed in the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, prosecutors argued that Terry Lynn Barton should be ordered to pay restitution in the amount spent to restore the watershed in Pike National Forest.
Barton pleaded guilty to federal and state arson charges. She is serving a six-year federal sentence and a 12-year state sentence concurrently in Texas.
