Competing Agencies in Court Over Water Supply

An East Bay utility’s effort to secure more water for its 3.5 million customers is pitting local agencies against each other.
About 50 urban and agricultural water agencies that depend on water from the Sacramento River have formed the Delta Water Users to fight the East Bay Municipal District’s plan. They lost in state court but have filed an appeal. A separate case in federal court is underway.
