Forget funds; give an etiquette book

Tom Kelly may be an expert in real estate but clearly not in matters regarding etiquette (“Give Me a Down Payment Instead of a Blender,” April 27).
There is no way to “tastefully print on the wedding invitation” that one would like friends and family to contribute to a down payment on a house or any other gift for that matter.
No references to gifts are ever to be made on invitations.
It can be assumed that you or your family actually speak to the people invited to your wedding. Guests can ask where you’re registered or get it word-of-mouth.
It is acceptable to put this on shower invitations because that is the purpose of a shower -- to give gifts to the bride and groom.
