The United Nations war crimes tribunal in The Hague said it had indicted two former Serbian security chiefs on charges of committing war crimes in Bosnia and Croatia between 1991 and 1995.
It indicted Franko Simatovic, former head of Serbian state security special operations, and Jovica Stanisic, who was Serbia’s state security chief and is said by Hague prosecutors to have had overall responsibility for paramilitary units.
Both were indicted on five counts of crimes against humanity, tribunal spokesman Jim Landale said. They are in custody.
