Board Member Reelected Despite U.S. Charges of Growing Marijuana

MANILA, Calif. — An incumbent on the community services district board here has won reelection, despite being under federal indictment on marijuana-growing charges.
Timothy Andrew Dellas, 47, came in third of four candidates in the race for three open seats.
He received 82 votes out of 339 ballots cast.
Dellas was indicted in July on two counts of manufacturing marijuana and possessing it with intent to distribute.
Humboldt County sheriff’s deputies allegedly found him at a massive indoor pot farm in Briceland, a town in the southern part of the county. More than 5,600 plants were found on the site, authorities said.
Dellas, a former handyman who now studies full-time at Humboldt State University, could face 10 years to life in prison and a maximum fine of $4 million on each count if he is convicted.
The Manila Community Services District provides water, sewer and recreation services for the town of 1,000 residents just north of Eureka.
